James Tredwell remains unbeaten
ENGLAND’S premier strike bowler ensured the day ended up even as Nottinghamshire pegged Kent back on the first day of the county championship clash at Trent Bridge.
After having bowled Notts out for 202 in 82.4 overs, Kent were in charge, but a spell of three for eight in six overs from Sidebottom, meant Kent finished on 33 for four at stumps.
Opener Joe Denly was bowled first ball of the Kent innings by Sidebottom, before Charlie Shreck had acting captain Martin van Jaarsveld trapped in front for a seven ball duck.
Matt Walker’s poor championship form continued as he was caught by Chris Read off Sidebottom for one, and another man out of form - Darren Stevens - was out lbw to the England paceman.
James Tredwell and Justin Kemp managed to see out the remaining overs and return to face Shreck and Sidebottom in the morning.
Earlier in the day, Kent’s bowlers were on form to knock over the home side for 202.

The Kent bowlers picked up the last four wickets for 30 runs in the last session in an impressive display of swing bowling.
The home side had been reduced to 172 for six at tea after having won the toss and batted.
The wily medium pace of Stevens accounted for the wickets of Adam Voges and Samit Patel after the pair had put on 55 for the fifth wicket.
Stevens picked up Voges for 43 after having been caught in the slips by captain Martin van Jaarsveld and Patel departed 18 runs later, caught by Geraint Jones off Stevens.
Bilal Shafayat took 32 balls to score three runs before he was snared by Robbie Joseph, caught at slip by van Jaarsveld.

Mark Wagh hit eight boundaries in his 42 from 52 balls before he was removed shortly before the lunch interval.
Her nibbled at one outside off stump to be caught by Geraint Jones off the bowling of Robbie Joseph.
