McLaren gives Kent sight of victory
Ryan McLaren recorded figures of six for 75
KENT will have to chase a gettable 244 in four sessions at Trent Bridge after bowling Nottinghamshire out for 279.

Ryan McLaren claimed six for 75 to put Kent in with a chance of winning their first county championship game of the season, and avenge their opening day defeat by 10 wickets to their East Midlands opponents.

Former England wicketkeeper Chris Read put up some hardy resistance, scoring 88 from 133 balls which included 10 fours and two big sixes.

He put on a stand of 67 with all-rounder Mark Ealham and it looked as though the pair were taking the game away from Kent, until McLaren struck to see off Read.

It marked a collapse for Nottinghamshire as they lost their last three wickets for eight runs once Read was trapped lbw by McLaren.

Martin Saggers then accounted for Ealham, who was caught by Geraint Jones for 39, before Ryan Sidebottom was snared by Martin van Jaarsveld in the slips to give McLaren his sixth wicket.

Earlier, James Tredwell picked up the wicket of Stuard Broad after lunch and that was before McLaren had snapped up three wickets in the morning session of day three as Nottinghamshire went to lunch on 178 for six.

The South African seamer claimed the wickets of Adam Voges and Samit Patel and Matt Wood for just five runs.

Robbie Joseph then bowled Bilal Shafayat to reduce the home side to 134 for six.
