Two litterbugs have been hit with fines after dropping rubbish in Chatham High Street.
Bahadur Singh was spotted by an environment enforcement officer leaving a slip on the floor outside a betting shop.
The 65-year-old was issues with a fixed fine and ordered to pick up his rubbish.
After failing to pay the penalty, the case was taken to court.
When the Chatham High Street resident failed to attend on Monday, February 1 he was ordered to pay £190 in his absence.
Fellow litterbug Malcolm Warren was spotted dropping a cigarette stub on the floor outside Poundland.
The 59-year old failed to pay the initial £80 fixed caution and also ended up in court.
After pleading guilty, the unemployed Buller Road resident was ordered to pay £130 in fees and fines.
Community safety and enforcement boss Rehman Chishti said: "We want everyone that lives and works in Medway to feel proud of their environment and our officers work hard to keep the area safe and clean.
“Most people don’t litter and make sure they dispose of their rubbish in bins, however, a small minority of people do not.
“This is anti-social and shows a lack of consideration for others.
“Our officers will hand out fixed penalty notices to those that do this and if people don’t pay these they will end up in court.”
