Saturday's performance was probably the best we’ve had since Millwall way back in September and I don’t think Huddersfield would have had too many complaints if it had finished 3-0 or 4-0.
We started so well and when we’ve done that at Priestfield this season the other team have struggled to cope, no matter where they are in the league. The key was not to give them time on the ball, which we did when we lost at their place earlier in the season. It worked and that’s how we got the first goal – their full-back had the ball but Adam Miller closed him down, won the ball and gave it to Simeon [Jackson] to score.
Both goals were great finishes. Jacko went through a quiet stage and he was left out of the team but a goalscorer never stays quiet for long. Sitting on the bench might have been good for him to get fired up and since he’s come back the goals have flowed, so maybe the manager should take a pat on the back for that one.
The game was the first one I’d seen since breaking my arm against Leyton Orient. Players hate watching and I think I’m one of the worst. I get really agitated and I think I talked my dad’s ears off sitting up in the stands.
I tried to do some running on Saturday but it was still a bit soon, although I’ve been able to do some work on the bike, which is pleasing. We had applied to do some work in an oxygen chamber, but the specialist said it only helps once the bone has started to knit together, so maybe we’ll do that in a couple of weeks.
Hopefully the lads can build on Saturday and get that away monkey off our backs with a win at Stockport this Saturday.
